Florida is more than just Disney
Walt Disney sure knew how to pick a location for his theme park. Orlando is a location with sun, sea and blue skies, providing people with the reliable weather they need for a spot of outdoor recreation in the theme parks and attractions. Orlando is such a nice location that other attractions soon followed suit with Universal Studios and SeaWorld, but the climate of Florida can be useful for much more than just riding on rollercoasters and finding Mickey Mouse.
One of SeaWorld sister parks, Discovery Cove has gained a lot of popularity over recent years. This is in part to the success of SeaWorld itself and the opening of other such attractions like Aquatica and Busch Gardens. This formula of great weather and unique theme parks has given Discovery Cove this popularity, but what is this marine park all about?
The main selling point of Discovery Cove is the opportunity to swim with dolphins. Although there is more to see such as coral reefs and exotic birds, swimming with dolphins is widely regarded as one of the must-do activities for your lifetime. So what is it about this activity that appears so popular? Why do people flock from half way around the globe to do this?
There is no doubt about it; swimming with dolphins looks incredible if you haven't done it already. Any dog or cat owner will know that playing with animals can be a rewarding experience and dolphins are no exception. A certain level of empathy can be achieved and due to their intelligence; they can associate themselves with humans quite well. It is no surprise then that it has been scientifically proven that this activity is therapeutic and can help with people suffering from depression.
Let's not also forget the sensation of being weightless in the water. Swimming alone can be fun, but when with a playful companion, the experience is multiplied. This is something that cannot be achieved by throwing a stick around a park with a dog.
Discovery Cove is one of the few parks in the world that approaches this experience with an environmental concern in mind, attempting not only to have fun, but also to educate young impressionable minds about the nature of these animals, making it a superb place for the whole family.

Can you touch the dolphins at Seaworld San Diego? Like is it for free? Or I have to pay? But how much if I have to pay?
To clarify what some of the other posters have said..
You can "touch" the dolphins for free, included in your admission price or you can pay to get more interactive time with their dolphins.
Sea World SD has an area called "Rocky Point Reserve" which is a dolphin pool with low brick walls. Visitors can go right up to the wall. The dolphins are swimming in this pool and often come up to the edges so you have the opportunity to touch them and feed them (There is a charge for a tray of fish and it's only offered at certain times during the day so check the sign and get there early. They don't want them overfed, so they'll only sell a certain amount of fish per feeding time). If you don't have fish, you can splash the water to try to get their attention, but the dolphins are smart - they'll come check you out and once they realize you don't have food, they'll swim away. If you have food (or even better if you're standing next to someone with food!) they'll swim up to you and open their mouths to be fed. If you're close enough, you may even get sprayed with water from their blowholes.

Sea World also offers two interactive programs with the dolphins, which they charge for:
The "Dolphin Encounter" is a 10 to 15 minute trainer led poolside interaction with bottlenose dolphins where you are guaranteed to touch, feed and train the dolphins - currently $50.00 per person (this is in addition to your admission price)
The "Dolphin Interaction Program" is a 1 hour program where you stand in the water on a ledge inside the dolphin pool and splash around with the dolphins. Meet, greet, touch and feed dolphins as trainers teach you to communicate with them using hand signals. You're given a wet suit to wear and a changing facility is available. - currently $190.00 per person 10 or older only and over 48" (this is in addition to your admission price)
They have discontinued their "Trainer for a Day" program where you were able to get into the pool and have the dolphins pull you around while holding onto their dorsal fin. (I've done this program and it was incredible)
