Postcards: Do it Right
More than just a wish-you-were-here card, color postcards can be great marketing tools. It’s functional and at the same time can do what you have set out to do – to maintain your old and loyal clients, as well as gain new ones for your business.
Postcard printing can convey a great mission. Postcards, especially a carefully planned postcard printing, can accomplish mean feats. When given the right purpose, your print ad can be an affordable means to attract more than your fair share of target clients.
Unfortunately, too many postcard printing fail because most businesses continue to keep doing the conventional way of making it. They don’t realize how big a potential a postcard can have when used wisely. Although its size may not be that significant, color postcards can mean great things, starting with the message it carries.
1- Too much of a cliché.
Most businesses fail to realize that providing too many clichés in postcard printing can mean disaster. Working on a cliché in particular – that postcards are there to communicate briefly and entertain- can get your business stuck and be just like any other business in the field. Nothing new to offer.
On the other hand, breaking out of it means developing new strategies for your color postcards. Never be afraid to try out new things and work on new ideas. Instead of the usual one- or two-liners, provide business news and information for example. And be on the lookout for new layouts and designs to keep your postcards updated and exciting all the time.
2- Same size, same shape, same old story.
Conventional size is just that, conventional- there’s nothing new to see. Instead of the usual standard postcard size, why not try changing your custom postcards to show your creativity and ingenuity. No one tells you not to try new things anyway, so be bold. Complement your design, content, as well as your color with outrageous shapes and sizes. Just remember to make sure that what you chose is still consistent with your image and your message.
3- Neglecting the needs of your target clients.
There’s only one way to get your target clients interested- what’s in it for them? Make that instant connection by providing them the benefits of reading your message. Don’t just say a greeting. Instead, attract their attention by giving them more than what they expect. Perhaps you can include a special gift or freebie if they bring the postcard to your shop.
4- Forgetting the call-for-action.
Postcards are great tools to have if you want to get response from your target clients. But that’s just the thing. Most businesses forget to include a call-for-action. This is one of the ways that you can be sure to have your message understood by your target readers. Always ask for a response so you could measure the effectiveness of your marketing tool.
Postcards have evolved from a simple print material to convey miss-you thoughts and special greetings. Postcards can mean great things when it comes to marketing your business successfully. So stop being conventional. Instead use your print ads wisely and see how your business gains popularity among your target clients.
