Early History of Keyring Clocks
A new era of the history of the keyring clocks and pocket watches begins in the year 1675, when Christian Huygens publicly showed his invention of the spiral spring and balance at the Paris Academy of Sciences in France. He had the traditional set-up with the addition of a spiral spring so connected that they worked in harmony. This could improve the fundamental shortcomings of the previously inaccurate keyring clocks which the new spring largely avoided. Simple. For intentional grounding to be called, the quarterback has to:
A. Be in the pocket,
B. Be in the grasp of the defensive team, and
C. Throw the ball to a place where there are obviously no receivers to catch it (with the purpose of avoiding the sack)
Spiking the ball simply stops the clock before the defense has a chance to sack the quarterback.
