Beatification Of ‎Late Pope John Paul II
Pope Benedict XVI on Friday attributed a miracle to the late Pope John Paul II, which moves the former pontiff one step closer to sainthood.
"In medieval days people didn't read and write, and knew little about the world so the Church needed stimuli. But times have changed and using blood as a relic is not a good idea." Krzysztof Madal, an influential Jesuit priest.
The blood was taken by doctors at the Gemelli Clinic in Rome during a tracheotomy operation, carried out shortly before the pope's death.

II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II,Polish: Jan Paweł II), born Karol Józef Wojtyła (18 May 1920 – 2 April 2005), reigned asSupreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church and Sovereign of Vatican City from 16 October 1978 until his death on 2 April 2005. His was the Second-Longest document Pontificate; only Pope Paul IX served longer (St. Peter the Apostle is reputed to have served for more than thirty years as the first pontiff, but documentation is too sparse to definitively support this). He has been the only Slavic or Polish Pope to date, and was the first non-Italian Pope since Dutch Pope Andrian VI in 1522.
He was one of the most-travelled world leaders in history, visiting 129 countries during his pontificate.John Paul II has been acclaimed as one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century.
John Paul II died in 2005 after almost 27 years in his role. He was succeeded by Benedict.

NOTE TO MUSIC: My point is that I've recently heard non-Catholics being critical of the probability of John Paul II's canonization. What I am trying to understand is why it is any of their business? If they are not Catholics, then why are they so upset?
I once met a Baptist friend in a video store and she was toying whether or not to rent a video of the life of John Paul II. Probably she was torn between plain human admiration for the man and the seeming contradiction between her religious faith that looks down on anything Catholic. But admiration for human virtue is universal. A good man- whatever his religious affiliation edifies the entire human race. Even Christians celebrate the memory of Gandhi and millions of Hindus revere the memory of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. For non-Catholics and atheists to denigrate the memory of John Paul II despite his overwhelming goodness is a sorry testament to the spiritual morass modern man has fallen into.
